Founded in 2001 by an international group of surgeons and gynecologists, the International Association of Laparoscopic Surgeons (IAMAS) was established to fulfill the need for a global organization dedicated to Minimal Access Surgery.

IAMAS represents a worldwide community of surgeons, gynecologists, and allied health professionals committed to advancing laparoscopic surgery, endoscopy, and emerging techniques for patients across the globe. Unlike many organizations that focus solely on their parent countries, IAMAS was conceived as a global platform where medical professionals involved in laparoscopy could exchange knowledge and share their experiences.

We are a prestigious society dedicated to advancing and improving the standards of practice in the field of Minimal Access Surgery. With our registered office located at Sehgal Neo Hospital in New Delhi, India, IAMAS brings together a community of skilled professionals committed to promoting excellence in surgical techniques. Our aim is to enhance the standards of practice and the quality of professional service in Minimal Access Surgery. We strive to provide exceptional opportunities for our members to contribute to national and international policy-making bodies, protecting the interests of International medical graduates. By organizing training camps and workshops conducted by renowned experts, we aim to motivate and inspire young doctors to excel in their surgical careers.Additionally, we want to train and impart specialized education in the field of Minimal Access Surgery, focusing on continuously improving patient safety and providing high patient satisfaction. I am of the belief, that a skilled, competent, and well-trained group of doctors are a prerequisite to achieving our vision, and we place great emphasis on ensuring this. Our founder members are incredibly experienced, highly skilled, and fully committed to this cause. Laparoscopic surgery has been replacing the open technique in many procedures. However, the learning curve required to obtain expertise in minimal-access surgery has been an issue in the surgeon community. IAMAS has been formed to overcome this barrier. Our agenda at IAMAS is to increase the penetration of Minimal Access Surgery in India and overseas. I am confident of receiving co-operation, suggestions and engagement from all our members to help our society achieve its objective.
